About me and the
fur babies who
inspired me
I grew up in Jamaica with my dog loving parents and our island has struggled with an overwhelming number of stray cats and dogs who were abandoned or born on the streets and in need of a loving home. This led me to start volunteering at the only shelter at the time, Montego Bay Animal Haven, where I got to care for animals that varied in breed, size, age and species from rabbits and turtles to cats and dogs. The animal shelter and the loving efforts of its founder, has inspired me to open a rescue of my own one day, hopefully with a similar range in species.
Day One Girls and Me
My life with a furry family, along with my experience at the shelter, taught me how to adapt to the changing stages of their lives from newborn to senior. This had been an incredible outlet for all of my animal enthusiasm and a chance to help these beautiful creatures find their forever home or to feel like they still had family until then. I treat all animals with the same patience and care that I give to my own and hope to meet many, many more!
On the right is Ginger, my sweet girl of fourteen years who my mother adopted on my behalf when I was kid. I’ve taken care of her all her life and most of mine.
On the left is Mous Mous, my quirky girl and the first baby I adopted from the shelter. We’ve been a family for ten years! Her name comes from the Jamaican dialect for ‘mouse’, fondly after her fantastic big ears. Her gotcha day is August 3, 2011.
